It’s been a pretty exciting month for Wesley. He got to meet some new people and spend more time with some he’s already met. He had his first road trip to visit his Grandma in Pahrump, and he laughed for the first time! He’s been through long stretches of sleep and sleep regressions where he was waking up every 2 hours.
We’ve asked our friends and family to get tested for Covid before seeing the baby. It’s a lot to ask, but all things considered we just don’t know what else we can do. Luckily we have great friends and family! Many of them have gone through what it takes to get tested, quarantine, and make sure that our family stays safe. This month we got to see the Affeld family for a day of fun. Wesley got to learn about airplane from his Uncle David. He wasn’t too sure about it at first, but he’s warmed up to it as time has gone on.
Visiting my mom, I got to rock Wesley in the same rocking chair that I was rocked in as a baby. He did very well on his first long car ride only having to stop one time on the way back to be fed and change his diaper. Otherwise he didn’t fuss or cry; I suppose like all babies the movement of the car was soothing to him. We also learned what we need when we go out of town, and going to my mom’s house was a good trial run to feel more comfortable about traveling with Wes.
He got to meet his cousin Hudson via Zoom, and they had a great time talking away in a language of course their own. There have been lots of books, hours of tummy time, and so much singing it’s a miracle Cat and I still have our voices.
I will say that my only mission in life, likely from this point forward, is to make this baby laugh. I feel so accomplished when I can get a laugh, and I’m sure it’s spiking my serotonin just hearing Wes’s giggle. If you scroll down below the gallery you can get a taste of what’s to come next month…
