I can’t believe it’s already June. I try not to say the things that everyone says, but sometimes clichés are simply true – it goes fast. When I say it goes fast I mean both time and toddlers. I’m so glad they grow up slowly and give dads time to grow with them because there’s no way I could have carried or kept up with 2 year old Wes!
Why hasn’t there been a blog post for so long? We’ve been living life and enjoying every minute of Wesley growing up, seeing new things, having new experiences, learning so much, and slowly becoming the amazing kid he’s turning out to be. I’m not getting my hopes up, and without question it’s a day by day situation. One day he loves carrots, the next day he’s spitting them out and telling us “yucky.” But everyday is a good day when we finally have time to reflect, and there’s nothing I like more than being Wesley’s dad. When Wes was going for blood work as a baby a nurse said to me “that baby looks loved.” I said, “yeah…he’s pretty spoiled.” She said, “NO. A baby can’t be spoiled they can just be loved.” That’s probably not how most people see it, but I like to think she’s right.
Ok ok. Enough with the sappy dad crap. Let’s get to some photos! This is just a dump of some of my favorite moments of 2022.
Wesley has been to museums (both art and natural history), he loves music and often carries his “guitar” around the house. He demands “rock roll” and “ba nani” (which is Bob Marley for those who don’t speak Wesley). He LOVES flowers and almost everyday insists on picking a flower to take to daycare. He smells roses and says “honey.” He tells jokes and has a huge sense of humor, makes faces when he knows people will laugh, and loves attention and stirring up a crowd. He yells “RUN” before he starts running, loves Mickey Mouse and “Mickey Mouse’s House (Disneyland),” and almost all the time is just fun to be around. Wes eats all kinds of stuff, and even though he’s starting to get more selective, still can take down an $11 tin of fish eggs be it ikura, masago, or caviar. He loves books, and when we’re finished reading to him he wants to go through the pages and review the things that he saw by finding the pages he liked and telling us what’s on them. Sometimes we find him sitting by himself with a book in his laptop just talking away, mostly nonsense, to no one at all; just enjoying sitting quietly and reading. He can identify the different instruments in music, and loves to tell everyone “Wesley, guitar too.”
We feel very lucky.
